Ok, as many of you know I sponsored David Gourdis. He is no longer at the club so I am on the lookout for a new player to sponsor.

I am leaning towards Jake Batchelor (who I met at the 2010 Club 80 Dec function and struck me as a future leader of the club and quite aritculate) but haven't yet made up my mind.

I thought I would seek advice from fellow Y&Bers. Please tell me who you think I should sponsor and why?

Won't tell you who you should sponsor, however if I had the money to afford sponsorship I would go for someone like Nahas or Edwards. They have been on the list a little longer and have recognised their deficiencies and worked on rectifying them. Sponsor them to show that at least one supporter had faith in them to take that next step this year and continue to improve.

Having said that, I also think Batch would be a good player to sponsor

You should chose, but if I was choosing for myself I would pick Edwards as I think he gets a rough go from some fans and I can really see his strengths and found him very impressive when I met him last year. If not him, I'd go Matt Dea, but you should go with who you want. Batchelor would be a fine pick.

Mate I know someone who is sponsoring Dea. I still like the Batch plan. Follow your gut instinct.

Personally I would go for Houli. His personality appears very strong in character and I think he would be an interesting person to get to know. The challenge of being "different" to many because of his background is something I could relate to, growing up as part of a European minority in the 70's.

His cultural and spiritual beliefs would be interesting to understand and I admire his strength of character to overcome any ignorance towards his beliefs. To incorporate these beliefs into a professional sporting career, again, I feel would be fascinating to hear about.

No, no, no, no, no, no SS, you're supposed to be pumping up Bachar for the site sponsorship:D (as I have). Everything you've said about him is accurate, in my opinion, having spent several hours in his company. But Con, Bachar would be a bad choice for you.....:p

I agree. I think you should go with your gut on this one.
Besides, Batch really comes across to me as a great bloke, too. Level-headed and poise beyond his years.
He'll be around a long time and it'd be great to be there for him at the beginning.

Daniel Jackson, Troy Taylor or Relton Roberts would be my suggestions.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

Ned - i have tussled long and hard over this. Gus is a sensational suggestion by you - it had me laughing out loud and hard :)

I have narrowed it down to 4: Batch, Bach, CONca and Ellis.

    Eeny, meeny, miny, moe....

Houli or Conca would get my vote so I suppose it's Conca since you're not considering Houli.

You call him Houli - I call him Bach - I am considering him.

Now who do you vote for?

Ah. Stupid me. Saw Bach and read Batch twice o_O . Hmm. Probably Houli then. Though either are worthy.
